Here are 5 Healthy Daily Habits to implement into your routine to create a happier and healthier life.
Implement the Lifestyle Wellness Pyramid
For an easy guideline to eating a well-balanced diet, utilise the Lifestyle Wellness Pyramid (available from InfiniteHope). It’s easy to follow and will keep you on the right track.
Breathing is normally something we don’t consciously think about and is merely an automatic practice. Unfortunately the majority of us are breathing poorly. We should make a conscious effort to focus on our breathing at some point during the day. Breathing correctly can help relieve stress, improve energy levels, and speeds up metabolism etc.
Below is a Healthy Breathing Technique for you to practice at home.

1. Find a quiet, comfortable place where you will not be disturbed or distracted. Lie or sit down, whichever you prefer.
2. Close your eyes if you wish and place one hand on your stomach, just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest. This is to make certain that you are breathing from the correct place. Your focus for this technique is on your stomach.
3. Take a deep breath through your nose and allow your stomach to rise higher than your chest. You should feel your stomach pushing up against your hand.
4. Exhale slowly out through your mouth while you tighten your abdominal muscles so that you feel like you are pulling your navel into your back.
Continue this method, focusing on developing a regular and steady rhythm for about 5 to 15 minutes or for as long as you feel the need to. You may like to practice this method about 3 times a day. After you have mastered this technique, you can use it anywhere, even while at work.
Enjoy Adequate Sunshine
Make sure you make time to go outdoors daily to get your fix of Vitamin D. It also helps to boost your serotonin levels which make you feel good.
All you need is about 20 minutes of sunshine a day, without the use of sunscreen, with about 40% of your skin exposed to gain the great health benefits the sun has to offer.
That is something I have talked about quite often. It is important that we recognise each day the things we are most grateful for. Many people now are using ‘Gratitude Diaries’ where they write down what they have been grateful for during the day.
It helps us to focus on the wonderful things in our lives to allow more of the same to come our way. It is very important to let someone know how thankful or appreciative you are for their friendship, for their helpfulness, their thoughtfulness and for whatever they do for you.
This is a great way to build strong, healthy and happy relationships because you have taken the time to act on your feelings of appreciation and gratitude.
Practice the Art of Giving
We receive great fulfilment, happiness and pleasure if we are able to give of ourselves in some way without expecting anything in return. There are many ways that we can participate in the Art of Giving. You may wish to volunteer for a charity, nursing home, school, RSPCA, etc; helping an elderly or sick neighbour or practice random acts of kindness.
I would like to share a story of the “Pay It Forward” concept from a Random Act of Kindness that I witnessed recently. Standing at the check-out in Coles the child of the lady being served threw things out of the trolley under the counter.
The next person in line crawled under and picked them up. This helpful lady when being served herself, was short $6.00 to pay her bill. The next person in line gave her the $6.00 to make up the total.
Then the young check-out cashier was touched by this kindness and gave that person two green shopping bags free. Who knows how it was paid forward from there?
